USAToday just published an article describing the mini oil boom that is taking place in North Dakota from shale oil deposits (also called “thight oil”). What makes this article interesting is that it does not stop at the usual recitation of facts and figures on the US domestic Oil production and consumption.
In the last paragraph , Wendy Koch, the author of the article takes the pain to mention that according to a 2010 report published by the Paris based International Energy Agency, global peak production of crude oil probably occurred in 2006. So this mini oil boom we are experiencing now is just a temporary boost that will not last as world wide oil consumption will increase further as China and India increase their energy consumption.
Here is an other example of recognition of Peak Oil in a main stream media outlet.
