THE 2010 Philly Naked Bike Ride as if you were there.

I hope you were there because it was a blast.

I am not referring to getting drunk or high.  Among the 1,500 to 2,000 cyclists that showed up, I am sure there were a few riders lightly  inebriated . Remember, it is pretty difficult to ride a bicycle or a skateboard drunk.

The fun came from heightened feeling of freedom that arises from riding on a bike, doing so naked or close to naked echoed by the ENTHUSIASM of the crowd.

The event took place on Sunday Sept 5th at dusk.

The starting location was kept secret until almost the last minute.
Unless you registered on the Facebook page of course.

Here is the  illustrated  map of the course that Brett Haymaker drew:

Painting that nipple….

In the crowd standing around I noticed a number of people in great shape – men and women.

TRUE COURAGE was displayed by people in not so great shape and who had no troubles just being who they are in its most simple expression.

The point of the Naked Bike Ride is to promote bicycles, clean air, and  fuel-conscious consumption.

Some people chose to use their body as poster to make a point. Here are a few examples:

Less is  more and will be more so.

So we left Lemon Hill to ride down the Parkway.

Here is a Father/Son duo passing the site of the future Barnes Foundation Museum.

We went around Logan Square……….

Here is “Hairy Ass” making a right on 19th Street with a bunch of other Hairy Asses

Lots of people around Rittenhouse Square having fun watching the Naked Bike Ride
and the juggler added the colors of his flags to the painted colors on the cyclists bodies.

Riding toward City Hall at Sunset ……..

Green Man and Blue Man and a few more riding on Market Street

1,500 cyclists hollering and screaming through the 5th Street tunnel under Vine Street is a unique experience.

Arrival at the Fishtown Piazza and getting dressed

Will you show up next year???
